Safeguarding Children

Leppington Lions Soccer Club is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people participating in football within our club. We work with clubs, associations, branches and referee branches so that children can enjoy football and feel safe, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. We follow the Safeguarding and Member Protection policies provided by Football NSW.

PLAYING FORMATS & RULES

https://www.playfootball.com.au/sites/play/files/2020-01/Playing-Formats-and-Rules.pdf

Registrations open January of each year and we keep taking registrations through to start of March.

Winter season games officially start at the end of March and finishes late August of each year.

Training usually starts first week of Feburary

Players can start at the age of 4 starting with Under 5s, all the way up to Over 35s.

Players play the age they turn that year. For example if you or your child is playing in the 2026 season and turns 10 in 2026 that child will play in Under 10s.

Players can't play below their age group but can play up to two (2) age groups above their age.

Home and Away jerseys, include game day shorts and socks and jacket are included in the yearly rego.

Players can wear their away / training jersey to training nights, however we do suggest purchasing another set of shorts and socks to use for training. This can be purchased from a sports store like Rebel Sport.

Shinpads and soccer boots need to be purchasd from a sports store like Rebel Sport.

The club is by our wonderful volunteers and without the help of people like our Coaches and Managers, the Club simply does not function.

Coaches and Managers are normally parents or volunteers from the team, who have volunteered their services to fulfil these roles. Without a Coach and Manager, the team will not go ahead.

The club will work with each team at the start of the season to find a coach and manager.

It is important to reiterate that your Coach and Manager have voluntarily taken on these roles so that not only their children can play football, but also you and/or your children can play and have fun.  Treat them with the respect they deserve.

If ever you have any questions or problems, your Coach or Manager should always be your first port of call and if they’re not sure, they will contact the Club’s Committee on your behalf.

Please Note: The appointment of all Coaches and Managers remains at the discretion of the Club’s Committee.

In the case of bad weather on training nights or on game days, the best person to contact is always your Coach or Manager.

They will have been notified by the Club as to whether the grounds are closed. The club will also communicate via the 360Player app.

Please DO NOT call the Association only contact your Coach or Manager .

2026 Season training starts from the first week of March.

Competitive Teams will start Matches from the 15th March and Juniors will start from 29th March. Matches will run through School Holidays with the exception of Easter Long Weekend and June Long Weekend.

You can find all fixture information via 360Player and Dribl, from late to mid March.

The club is run entirely on volunteers and without the help of people like you, the Club simply will not function. You’re welcome to Coach or Manager your child’s team as long as nobody else has put their hand up before you – AND – you will need to get a Working with Children’s Check, which is free for volunteers and is valid for 5 years.

The Office of the Children's Guardian provides a range of eLearning courses to help you keep children safe in our organisation.

All Registered Players are insured under Football NSW’s insurance policy. A “No Pay-No Play” policy will cover all groups.  This means that to play soccer, registration fees must be paid in full when registering.

Players that need to weat glasses must have sports wear protective eyewear. It is requirement that children that need glasses, wear sport wear protective eyewear such as sports goggles or sports glasses with soft or flexible frames fitted with a plastic or polycarbonate lens.

We understand that sometimes children get sick or something comes up that’s prevents you from attending training or a game. Once again, you should always contact your Coach or Manager to let them know as early as possible.
